FLEET STREET QUARTER'S ERA OF CHANGE
A STRATEGY FOR PLACEMAKING & PUBLIC REALM
Today, we officially unveiled a brand new public realm strategy for the Fleet Street Quarter area. A proposed vision that could radically transform the area over the 10 years, the strategy will help channel the biggest transformation this part of the City has seen since Bazalgette Embankment 150 years ago.
The strategy is the product of a nine months of collaboration with esteemed architecture, urban design and planning firm practice Gensler, transport planning consultancy Norman Rourke Pryme, and public art consultancy UP Projects.
The vision was launched to over 70 Fleet Street Quarter businesses, members and key stakeholders at a panel event hosted at Goldman Sachs European HQ in the Fleet Street Quarter.
Chaired by the Associate Editor of the Sunday Times, Oliver Shah, six panellists came together to discuss how the proposed public realm vision could unlock new opportunities and raise the area’s ceiling of potential.
Developed in-line with the City of London Corporation Draft City Plan 2040 and transport strategy, the proposals for public realm outline a clean, green and safe future for an area expected to support an extra 25,000 new workers over the next five years. If funding is secured, the strategy would support the area’s £6.5bn development pipeline to create an attractive destination to work and play.
